A new father at the age of 79? Welcome to Robert De Niro’s life. The actor, who is just one year away from turning 80, revealed he is now the father of seven.
During an interview with ET Canada, the Oscar-winner was talking about parenting while discussing his upcoming film, About My Father.
I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice. And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.
The interviewer then mentioned that De Niro has six children, but the actor quickly corrected, “Seven, actually,” he revealed.
“I just had a baby,” he added, but did not provide any more information. For those who don’t know, De Niro had two children with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott. Those children are now 51 and 46, and have kids of their own.
In 1995, he welcomed twin sons Julian and Aaron, 27, with his former girlfriend, model and actress Toukie Smith. De Niro also shares son Elliot, 24, and daughter Helen Grace, 11, with his ex-wife, Grace Hightower.
It’s believed that this seventh baby belongs to his current girlfriend, Tiffany Chen. She is a martial arts instructor and was spotted sporting a baby bump earlier this year.
Pretty crazy to welcome a baby at nearly 80-years-old, but hey. everyone has their own path in life, right?
