As most of you probably know, 52-year-old actress Selma Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in 2018, and unfortunately, she hasn’t had a lot of “remission” periods.
The autoimmune disease has hit her hard, but during a new interview with Travel + Leisure magazine, Blair talked about how her 13-year-old son Arthur has been a godsend. He’s been helping her not only get out of bed, but also out of the country!
We recently did Paris, and when we got off the plane, he’s like, ‘We’re going out,’ Normally I would’ve gone to bed, but having a child who likes to walk, shop and see the cool things gets me to go out.
She and her son love to travel, and Blair particularly enjoys it because she doesn’t have time to feel sorry for herself. Instead, she’s too busy having fun and enjoying the world with her son.
But parenting with MS has been a challenge for Blair. In a previous interview, she talked about how the fatigue gets the best of her sometimes…
I think since I had him I’d been afflicted with MS, and I didn’t know [because] I was diagnosed later. My fatigue was always the main issue and as any parent knows, especially a single parent, there’s no room for extra fatigue. I had to ask advice for everything,
No shame in that. We all need advice as parents.
