Believe it or not, 81-year-old actor Robert De Niro has seven kids in total, ranging from age 53 all the way down to two-years-old.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, De Niro talked about parenting and revealed the ultimate rule he has as a father.
Well, there’s certain things you can do and certain things you can’t do. The main thing is to support your kids. As long as they’re not hurting themselves, doing anything destructive or anything like that, you have to support them. Even if you don’t go with it or think that they are going at it, whatever it is, you have to support them. And they have to know that you support them. Always.
It’s hard to argue with that advice. Making sure your children feel supported is so crucial to their development. That doesn’t mean you can’t guide them or give them constructive feedback. In fact, feedback can be a sign of support! It shows that you actually care about them.
So how is De Niro handling being a father to a toddler at the age of 81? Well, he claims it’s nothing but pure joy.
She’s just pure joy. She’s 2 now, so as they get older and older then… you know? But it’s still always wonderful. Pure joy, what can I say?
There you have it! Nothing but pure joy. It probably helps that he’s a multi-millionaire with the ability to hire a team of nannies to assist him.
