Back in June, ‘This Is Us‘ star Mandy Moore shocked the world by announcing she was pregnant with her second child. She and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, just welcomed their first child together back in February of 2021.
And now, a little over one year later, Moore is going through pregnancy again. The 38-year-old actress/singer-songwriter, was on tour with her band when she broke the news of this second pregnancy. And at the time, she believed she’d be able to power through and continue rocking out across the country while pregnant and caring for her 17-month-old Son, August.
But unsurprisingly, it was a little too much for her to handle. She thought because she juggled everything while filming ‘This Is Us‘ she’d be able to handle a tour, but turns out, they’re much different.
As it turns out, being on a set is worlds away from being on a tour bus. It was like trying to sleep on a wooden rollercoaster, Gus would be standing up in his Pack N’ Play while the bus was shaking — and I was like, ‘No, no, no. We can’t do this anymore.’ I foolishly thought ‘if I did it before, I can do it again,’ But every pregnancy is different. This time, I was caring for a toddler. I was walking around feeling like an absolute shell of myself.
I certainly don’t blame her. I don’t even like to get out of bed when I have a cold, so I couldn’t imagine being pregnant while on a concert tour across the country… WHILE TRYING TO TAKE CARE OF A TODDLER! That’s too much for anyone to handle.
Moore was also afraid her lack of sleep and added stress would impact her baby’s health.
I was scared I was going to adversely affect my [unborn] baby and his growth. I’d been looking forward to this for a decade and half. But ultimately, nothing trumps your health, and the health of your baby.
As she noted above, it’s been 15 years since she toured. She went on tour with Paula Cole back in 2007. For the past six years, Moore has dedicated herself to the NBC hit drama, This Is Us. The incredibly successful series ran for six seasons, the finale episode aired back in May of 2022.
