Katy Perry Says She Has No Interest In Having A Full-Time Nanny For Her And Orlando Bloom’s Daughter

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have a very busy life. Perry is currently nearing the end of her Las Vegas residency. Her last show will be on October 22, but then a month later, she’s headed out to Tokyo for multiple performances.

And then by next spring, she’ll be in full American Idol mode. As for Bloom? Well, he’s currently filming a movie, and then has three more potential projects that could start filming as early as next year.

So it’s safe to say, they have a lot going on.

But that doesn’t mean they’ve just dropped their 2-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, off with a nanny 24 hours a day. In fact, Perry says she has not and will never hire a full-time nanny.

I am working a lot, and I’ve always worked a lot. I have a wonderful nanny, but I don’t have a full-time nanny because I feel like if I had a full-time nanny then I would never be able to know how to care for my daughter like I’m meant to. It doesn’t matter if I’ve had a show that goes to 11 p.m. the night before, I’m waking up at 6 o’clock and we’re gonna go and do breakfast.

It’s not that she wouldn’t trust a full-time nanny, it’s just that she wants to be actively involved in her child’s life.

For example, she recalled a recent experience that only highlighted her concerns.

She’s 2, so she’s at the point where she’s saying new words every day. And the other day she was saying some words that I didn’t teach her, and I was like ‘Damn it. That doesn’t feel good.’

In addition to Daisy, Bloom has an 11-year-old son named Flynn from his previous marriage to Miranda Kerr, so Katy is also playing the role of stepmother.

Perry explained how Bloom will take over parenting duties when she’s busy, and she’ll take over when he’s busy.

We do this funny thing where I go and visit him for a month while he’s making a movie and then when he’s not making a movie, he kind of takes charge on being number one parent. Then I go and do all my business stuff, so we really are just tapping each other in and out.

Sounds like they have a solid system in place.
