Sarah Michelle Gellar and fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr. share two kids together, a 13-year-old daughter named Charlotte and a 10-year-old boy named Rocky.

And even though both Sarah and Freddie are famous and known around the world, they would rather their kids not be known around the world.

The 45-year-old actress explained how she and Freddie won’t allow their kids to have social media.

Our rules are probably stricter than most. Our kids don’t have social media. They’re allowed to look sometimes when it’s our phones. Sometimes, our kids will be like ‘you guys are the strictest household!’ But I say, ‘yes, but everyone still wants to come here!’

When her kids complain about not being able to use social media, she tries to explain how them publishing things online at this age is like getting a “Paw Patrol” tattoo on your face when you’re five-years-old.

Because at that age, there’s nothing better than ‘Paw Patrol.’ And now, you’re 10 and [13], and you still have these tattoos on your face, and it’s not even who you are anymore. That’s a very hard concept for young kids to grasp.

That’s a fair point. So many people these days regret things they posted online when they were a teenager.

Heck, it’s even happened to Gellar later in life. She had to issue an apology in 2018 after posting a series of photos of herself in lingerie on Instagram as “a reminder not to overeat” on Thanksgiving.

Although Gellar said in her apology that she was trying to be ‘humorous,’ many felt the post was promoting ‘diet culture,’ ‘fat shaming’ and could trigger people with disordered eating.

Social media is certainly a dangerous thing that can quickly get you in trouble, but at the same time, it’s hard to escape it. And at some point, her kids are going to enter the social media world. She just has to hope they’re prepared.
