As some of you may know, 50-year-old actress Selma Blair was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in August of 2018. She revealed the news to the public in October 2018. It was certainly a hard pill to swallow for Blair, but also a bit of a relief, finally getting answers to all the little illnesses she had been dealing with for years.

Ever since her diagnosis, she has been living her best life, and most recently, she made the brave decision to compete on Dancing With the Stars.

The dancing competition is tough on all contestants, but especially tough on someone with MS, so Blair made sure doctors were checking her every single week.

And last week, doctors informed her she should probably quit the show. She made the shocking announcement on Monday’s show.

You know I’ve been monitored and in touch with my doctors this whole process. I had these MRIs and when the results came back, it just all adds up to I can’t. I can’t. I can’t go on with the competition. I pushed as far as I could.

After her final performance with her dancing partner, Blair shared a message to her 11-year-old son, who had been in the crowd supporting her every week.

Arthur, I love you the most and I just want to say, I loved this. And sometimes there’s going to be uncomfortable things to do in life and you just do it with a smile.

Arthur was probably Blair’s biggest fan during her time on the show. After she made her debut dance, Arthur told Access Hollywood how proud of her he was.

It’s just wonderful that she does this stuff and moves around. It was amazing. Even the judges were moved by it.
