Kelly Rowland, perhaps best known for being in the popular girl group Destiny’s Child, landed an acting gig in the new Netflix film, The Curse of Bridge Hollow.
The family Halloween film, which premiered on the streaming service last week, stars Rowland, Lauren Lapkus, and Marlon Wayans.
And before the film was released to the public, the stars of the film got together to watch it on the big screen for a very special premiere screening. Rowland decided to take her 7-year-old son Titan to the premiere, which ended up being a big mistake.
She talked about the incident during a chat on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
I thought since I’m sitting right there with him, we’re fine. But there’s a scene in the movie where mommy looks like she’s about to go to the other side, and basically Titan goes, ‘Mommy!‘ Like it was a whole release. I was like, ‘Yo, I’m right here, I’m right here. I’m not going nowhere,’ and he was like, ‘No.’ It was a whole moment.
He started crying and was probably a mess for the rest of the day. After the premiere, Rowland talked with Tina Knowles about the decision, and well, it’s safe to say Tina didn’t hold back with her reaction.
She’s like, ‘Well, why the hell you do something like that?’ She didn’t understand why I even showed him the movie. She’s like, ‘It’s Halloween, baby, you don’t do that.’ So I missed the mark!
Hey, don’t feel too bad. Every parent is going to make a mistake eventually. She was probably just excited to share something she worked on with her son, without even thinking about how he might be too young to understand that she’s just “acting” on screen.
Maybe she should wait another couple years before trying it again.
