Emma Roberts has been open about the challenges of motherhood. Back in October, she talked about how she was “devastated” she had to work on Halloween.
“So I’m missing trick or treating and I’m feeling really horrible about it,” she wrote at the time. For those who don’t know, the 31-year-old actress shares a 2-year-old son with ex-boyfriend, Garrett Hedlund.
This past Tuesday (Jan. 17) Roberts walked the red carpet for her upcoming film, Maybe I Do, and she talked to reporters about the struggles of being a working mother.
It’s really hard. I now see why moms are always so tired! I just see it from such a different perspective now. I see how being a mom is a full time job, so I see how for women who have full-time jobs and [are] full-time moms, it’s so hard and I have so much respect for them.
She then gave praise to her own mother for helping her so much, “I would die without my mom,” she told the reporters. While Emma’s mom is not famous… her aunt is! Emma’s aunt is THE Julia Roberts, so that’s pretty cool.
A lot has changed for Roberts since becoming a mom. She’s no longer only thinking about herself.
Where before, I’m operating in the world on my own and I’m just kind of thinking about what’s right for me. And when you have a kid, it’s like, ‘Wait, how old is he going to be in the year 2050? What’s the world going to look like?’ For me, I definitely wanted to educate myself more on what I should be doing.
What’s the world going to look like in 2050? Yikes. I don’t know, but for some reason, I’m not picturing sunshine and rainbows.
