In a Daily Mail column, the 38-year-old daughter of the late John McCain, claimed she has been asked to try the trendy weight-loss drug Ozempic several times since giving birth.
I’m told, ‘Everyone is doing it,’ as if that was ever a compelling case. I hear, ‘Just take the shot,’ as it has become known in shorthand. I was even offered a black market freebie by someone with ‘extra shots at home. I refused every offer.
She made it clear in the column that she refuses to take it, pointing out the moral issue involved, “I would rather have a few extra pounds than shoot myself up with medicine.”
The medication was originally developed for people fighting type 2 diabetes. It aims to control high blood sugar by making you feel full longer. The medication has quickly become a household name in Hollywood, with several stars abusing the drug to lose a few extra pounds.
McCain says it’s not for her though, revealing she wants to set an example for her daughters.
[They] will one day face the same beauty standards. Their world will only be more challenging as social media seeps more deeply into the American mind. This is not the world I want for them, and not the world I want for myself.
