Ever heard of Mommy Wrist? No, it’s not some new indie punk band, it’s a legit medical condition!

37-year-old actress Kaley Cuoco went on her Instagram Story on Monday and shared a photo of her bandaged wrist. She captioned the photo, “They call it mommy wrist. Are you kidding?”

So what is mommy wrist? Well, it’s essentially tendonitis, brought on by holding your newborn baby.

You’ve got Mommy Wrist (sometimes called Mommy Thumb), which occurs when we repeatedly torque our wrists and hands in awkward positions to pick up, hold, and nurse our babies. Over time, those tiny motions add up to cause a lot of pain.

Symptoms include thumb pain, swelling, pain in the wrist and limited mobility in the thumb. Doctors recommend wearing a brace and taking over-the-counter pain meds to reduce the swelling. If symptoms continue, they might give you a steroid shot.

Just another thing moms have to deal with, right? As if trying to take care of another human isn’t enough!

Kaley doesn’t seem to mind though…
