For those who don’t know, Mindy Kaling has two kids, 5-year-old daughter Katherine and 3-year-old son Spencer. She never has revealed who the father of her children is. Some people have speculated she secretly welcomed them with B.J. Novak. They previously dated and remain the best of friends, and he’s been spotted hanging out with Mindy and the kids a lot.
But neither of them have confirmed the rumors.
In any event, Mindy was on the iHeartPodcast Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi this week, and she talked about how she always had a strong desire to have kids, but that desire intensified when her mother passed away…
And that intensified when my mother died. Because for me, I was like I don’t want to be on my death bed, hopefully in my comfortable hospital room or even better, in my own home, and not have anybody around my bed. I want there to be kids and I want there to be grandkids. And that to me was way more important than these other sort of shallow things of like, ‘I want my six-bedroom house in the Palisades and my kids going to school with my husband who’s a surgeon.
So instead of waiting to find the “perfect man” and get married, then have kids, she decided to have kids on her own, without a partner.
The 44-year-old actress/comedian/writer revealed that things started to change for her when she entered her 30s and lost her desire to party.
All my twenties, I would date guys for two or three years and then break up. In my thirties, I started to really despise going to parties [in LA]. I started to really like the vibe of going to friends’ houses when they have kids.
Yeah, that switch happens fast. We all have that one party in our 30s we went to and woke up the next morning thinking, “Okay. I’m too old for this sh*t.”
