Former ‘iCarly‘ star Jennette McCurdy shocked the world last year when she released her memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died. The book has sold over 2 million copies worldwide, which was pretty dang impressive.
In the book, McCurdy talks about her painful relationship with her mother. McCurdy may have been the star of a hit Nickelodeon show, but it was at the cost of her childhood. She detailed how abusive her mother was throughout her young career.
So you can imagine why the now 31-year-old star isn’t exactly jazzed up to have kids of her own. During the most recent episode of her podcast, HARD FEELINGS, the actress talked about why she decided to freeze her eggs despite not wanting to have kids.
I cannot imagine a world in which someday I want kids. I am also open to my mind changing. I have changed a lot as a person in my years so far and I hope to continue changing. What I don’t want to happen is for me to turn 40 and realize, ‘F–k, I want kids now,’ and I don’t have enough eggs to make it happen.
Sounds like a wise decision. She never knows how she might feel in 10 years, so it’s better to take the steps now than to potentially live with a lifetime of regret.
I am trying to bet on my future self wanting a thing that my current self can’t imagine wanting, versus just not doing it and risking that someday I might want it and not be able to do it then – and the regret. I am trying to weigh these options and it’s quite complex.
We have faith that she’ll figure it out. She’s got a good head on her shoulders.
