49-year-old actress Penelope Cruz does not play when it comes to her children. During a recent cover story for ELLE magazine, Cruz opened up about parenting her 12-year-old son Leo and 10-year-old daughter, Luna.
For those who don’t know, she shares both children with Javier Bardem.
During the conversation, Cruz made it very clear she’s not a fan of kids having constant access to the internet and social media, which is why she won’t allow her kids to have their own personal phone.
It’s so easy to be manipulated, especially if you have a brain that is still forming. And who pays the price? Not us, not our generation, who, maybe at 25, learned how a BlackBerry worked. It’s a cruel experiment on children, on teenagers.
It’s hard to argue with that. The internet in general is such a bizarre experiment. On one hand, it provides us with so much information and ways to connect with people, but on the other hand… it provides us with too much information and ways to connect with people you shouldn’t be connecting with.
Elsewhere in the interview, Cruz revealed she’ll never force her kids into acting. The decision is entirely up to them. She will not stand in their way if they want to, but she’s not encouraging them either.
It’s for them to decide if they are going to have a job that is more exposed to the public or not. They can talk about that when they’re ready.
Cruz is doing parenting right!
