A week ago, ‘Charmed‘ actress Alyssa Milano went on her Twitter account and shared a link to a GoFundMe page for her son’s baseball team. They were trying to raise money for a trip to Cooperstown.
Her request for help from strangers online did not sit well with some of her fans. People didn’t understand why she needed a GoFundMe page when she and her husband are worth millions of dollars.
But what those people failed to realize was the GoFundMe page was for the whole team. It wasn’t just for Milano’s son.
In any event, some really angry (and perhaps delusional) fans found her 12-year-old son’s Instagram account and flooded his posts with comments like the one you see below…

That’s just terrible to drag her son into all this.
Milano saw these comments and knew she had to respond. She went on her Instagram account and wrote to the haters…
Every parent raises money for their child’s sports teams and many of them do so through GoFundMe. I am no different. As much as I’d love to pay for the entire team and their families for travel, transportation, hotel, food and beverage, uniforms, trading pins and all the things teams do for this kind of trip—I can not afford to do so. Maybe someday. Regardless of how you feel about me, going on to my hardworking 12 year old son’s Instagram page and leaving these kinds of messages is so horrid.
We have to agree with her. Maybe she should have simply shared the GoFundMe with friends and family instead of all her fans, but even still, that doesn’t mean she deserves to be hated. And it certainly doesn’t give you permission to drag her son into it.
