NBA star Steph Curry is expecting his fourth child with his wife, Ayesha Curry. They announced the news last month in an adorable essay for Sweet July Magazine.
Now, one month later, 34-year-old Ayesha is opening up about how this fourth pregnancy is going. She talked to PEOPLE and explained it’s been a difficult first few months.
As the days go on, I feel a little better and better each day. I am lucky if I can get a whole meal down.
We’re sure a lot of women can relate to that. She noted how this pregnancy feels a little different than her previous pregnancies, mostly due to how she’s being treated at her doctor’s appointments.
What’s been interesting has been my doctor’s appointments. I’m in my 30s, and so there’s all this paperwork referring to the experience as a ‘geriatric pregnancy’ and all the concerns that come along with that. I think there’s something that needs to be more nuanced when it comes to women, their age and conversations around having children.
Can’t argue with that, especially as couples are waiting longer to start families, due to everything being so expensive these days. Women giving birth in their 30s has become the norm in recent years.
Elsewhere in the interview, Curry noted that this will be her last pregnancy…
But one of the biggest differences [of this pregnancy] is a new understanding that this really does pass by in the blink of an eye. And in the blink of an eye, it could also all be taken away. That’s encouraged me to slow down and take in every single little thing — especially with it being my last pregnancy.
