25-year-old ‘Stranger Things‘ actress Maya Hawke recently appeared on The New York Times’ “Modern Love” podcast.

During her appearance, she read a piece written by author Jordana Jacobs titled Our Kinder, Gentler, Nobody-Moves-Out Divorce. The piece basically wonders what it’d be like if everyone still lived under the same roof after a divorce.

For those who don’t know, Maya’s famous parents, Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, divorced back in 2005 when Maya was just 7-years-old.

During her appearance on this podcast, Maya was asked if a dream situation following her parents’ split would have been them still living under the same roof. She responded, “I think the dream situation is captured by the film Parent Trap.”

But since she doesn’t have a secret twin out there in the world, she would have accepted the other scenario…

Anyone who has gone through a divorce, whether as a child or a parent, understands exactly what she’s saying.

And not only are those transition days hard, the entire weekend can be difficult as your kid grows older and wants to spend weekends with their friends.

Maya remembers one weekend she was supposed to spend with her father, but she wanted to attend a party instead. Her father said to her, “This is our special time. This is our one weekend.”

Wise words.
