‘American Horror Story‘ actress Emma Roberts is living her American Dream Story with her 3-year-old son, Rhodes.
For those who don’t know, Roberts shares her son with her ex, Garrett Hedlund. But from the sound of it, he’s not exactly heavily involved in his son’s life.
During a recent conversation on the ‘Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi‘ podcast, Roberts talked about how it’s such a freeing feeling to be able to take care of her son financially by herself.
Now that I have been working so long, I can support myself and I can help out other people. And also with my son, to just know that I can always support him on my own is a very freeing thing that I know is a huge privilege. And some people can’t and I just always want to encourage people to know that they can try.
But in order to support her son, she has to work a lot, and sometimes she struggles with feeling guilty about leaving her son for work.
I have such mom guilt. I’m away from my son, working for 12 hours a day and then on the weekend I’m so tired and I feel like I’m not being my best self. But the other side of that coin is I know that [he] will always know that his mom works really hard and loves what she does and therefore will always be able to support him.
That is so true. At 3-years-old, he probably doesn’t understand it now. After all, he just wants to spend time with his momma! But when he gets older, we’re sure he’ll be very grateful she did everything she could to make sure he had the best life.
