Kevin Hart sat down with PEOPLE for their sometimes emotional ‘My Life in Pictures’ series. Basically, they invite celebs to come in and look at old photos from their life and talk about the memories they bring up.
In Hart’s video, they showed him a photo featuring himself, his wife Eniko, and their two sons as they surround his 19-year-old daughter Heaven inside her dorm room.
This is my daughter’s first day, so we’re moving her into her college dorm. We came here to basically help her move in, but the room was like, I mean, this is the room. On the other side, there’s a bed there, and that was her half. So I was like, ‘I guess we’re done here.’ Move-in didn’t even last that long. We were all just hanging out for a bit.
He spoke more about the photo, revealing how they were making sad faces to show how much they were gonna miss her. This is where he got a little emotional, “It was a very proud moment. A proud day for me as a father.”
Hart added that she picked a school that isn’t too far away from home, “I got lucky,” he laughed.
All you can do is do your job as a parent, and when they leave, hope that those things that you try to teach have applied in some way, some shape, some form. If they have, you’ll be fine. If they haven’t, then you figure out better ways to communicate and try and solve — but we prepared for that day for a while.
The job’s not done for Hart and his wife! They still have three other kids at home, with the youngest being 3-year-old Kaori.
