Al Roker is loving his time as a grandparent. The beloved weatherman became a grandpa for the first time in July of 2023 when his daughter, Courtney, gave birth to a baby girl named Sky Lara.
During a recent interview with PEOPLE, Roker joked that he was going to do everything he didn’t do as a parent with his grandchildren.
I am breaking all the rules. This kid’s going to be on sugar overload. She’s going to get whatever she wants. It’s going to be fantastic. Because then I get to leave. It’s like, ‘Okay, she’s all revved up. Here you go. Bye. Got to go. Pop Pop’s got a date with a ghost.’
He’s mostly joking, but there is some truth to this. Grandparents are often more relaxed, and that’s probably because they don’t actually have to live with the rugrats anymore!
Roker is just full of love though. His TODAY co-anchors always go to him for parenting advice, and he always reminds them to lead with love.
In addition to Courtney, Roker also has a 25-year-old daughter named Leila and a 22-year-old son named Nick.
More grandkids might be in his future!
