At 39-years-old, ‘Pitch Perfect‘ star Anna Kendrick still doesn’t see herself having kids. Back in 2016, she wrote in her memoir that “Motherhood isn’t for me,” and that put an end to all the, “When are you having kids?” questions.
Now, some eight years later, Kendrick is opening up more about her thoughts on the matter. In an interview with Flow Space, she talked about how men seem to have a much more lackadaisical attitude when it comes to starting a family.
She explained how she’ll hear guys say something like, “Yeah, maybe one day, a couple of kids running around,” and that’s strange to her because she doesn’t think she’s ever heard a woman say something like that.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a woman say that! Because it paints a certain visual, yes? That you come home at the end of your workday, and you put down your proverbial briefcase, and you’re making yourself a cocktail, and a woman in a Laura Ashley dress is out in the yard, and there’s a couple of kids — in white! — running around. Um, Where are you in that, sir?
We see her point. It does paint a picture similar to that, although these days, with remote work becoming more and more routine, maybe the painting will change a little bit.
I don’t know, there’s something about that phrase that really starts to rub me the wrong way. It’s like when I hear husbands say they want to ‘help out’ with the kids. And it’s two working parents!
