Like most parents, Scarlett Johansson is desperately trying to convince her kid that they don’t need social media or a phone.
During a recent interview on the Today Show, the 39-year-old actress talked a little about her children: daughter Rose, 10 and son Cosmo, 3. She shares Rose with her ex-husband, Romain Dauriac, and Cosmo with her current husband, SNL star, Colin Jost.
And it’s safe to say, Scarlett is finding it easier to parent the 3-year-old right now.
I have a little guy who’s three, so he’s not on a phone. He’s into Legos. My daughter’s 10 and so there’s a lot of that pressure coming around now, especially if she’s hanging out with older girls. I don’t know, I think social media is hard for young people. It’s hard for me to process. I feel like technology is moving so much faster than our human egos can process.
She is not wrong. Social media is a scary place, and honestly, I don’t know how young people navigate it. It’s basically like teens today are trying to manage two lives at the same time.
Scarlett admitted if she had it her way, her daughter wouldn’t go on social media until she was 18. But in today’s world, that’s going to be difficult to navigate. She’d probably just end up having a friend make an account for her.
Elsewhere in the interview, Scarlett talked about how her daughter saw “Wicked” without her…
No, I’m desperate to see it. My daughter saw it without me and I’m really upset about it! I’m going to make her go again, for sure. I’m sure she’d be happy to.
