We have told you before that Hollywood star Anthony Mackie wants to make sure his children are raised away from the spotlight, and in a new interview on The Pivot podcast, the 46-year-old star talked more about keeping his kids humble.
He has a total of four sons, and he claims none of them have ever owned a pair of Jordans or any other expensive sneaker…
I keep my boys humble. Like my boys have never had a pair of Jordans. My boys don’t do all that internet fly s—. I could be the biggest star in the world. Do not let me catch you being stupid. My oldest gets it — my 15-year-old. He tell the other ones, he’s like, ‘Yo, don’t make Dad mad.’
And while we can certainly get behind that, Mackie did share a more controversial opinion later in the interview, claiming we as a society no longer raise masculine men.
So, it is just that thing of in the past 20 years, we’ve been living through the death of the American male. They have literally killed masculinity in our homes, in our communities for one reason or another. But I raise my boys to be young men.
This could be taken multiple ways, as some people have used this sort of language to secretly promote anti-gay positions.
But it sounds like from the interview, Mackie is more talking about being a gentleman. He expressed a desire for wanting his sons to have manners. To say “Thank you” and hold open doors for women.
And honestly, that doesn’t sound so bad!
