Most of us grew up with Hilary Duff. She starred in the hit Disney channel show, Lizzie McGuire, from 2001 through 2004. She was just 14-years-old at the time.
These days, she’s still a working actress in Hollywood, but she’s also a mother to three children. The now 34-year-old ‘How I Met Your Father‘ star was on The Kelly Clarkson Show last week when she warned other new parents about the “two-week phenomenon.”
Don’t get fooled by the first two weeks because you have an angel baby. They just haven’t woken up yet. You have those friends who are like, ‘This baby is sleeping through the night,’ Just wait two weeks. They don’t know they’ve entered the world yet.
Is this actually a thing? Well, according to Dr. Sara Siddiqui, a pediatrician at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, it very much is.
Siddiqui claims it’s a common experience, and that the peak time for gassiness and fussiness is typically between three and five weeks. So yeah, those first two weeks should be the calm period. Maybe it’s nature’s way of letting you slowly transition into the struggle.
Clarkson added to Duff’s comment, saying that she was tricked into believing her kids were the sweetest during their first year, but then when year two hit, they turned into little devils. Those were her words… not mine!
As noted above, Duff has a total of three children: a 10-year-old son, a 3-year-old daughter and a 16-month-old daughter.
Last month, she talked to TODAY Parents about raising resilient children…
I feel like everybody else right now — a little worn down and powerless, for sure, and like my voice doesn’t matter. But I do know that in my house my voice does matter, and that is my purpose on this Earth right now — raising my kids to be good people; to be confident and kind people who have a well-rounded understanding of others and the world around them. I know that is my most important job and that’s where I have strength and power.
She’s doing it right.
