It might be difficult to believe, but ‘Full House’ star John Stamos is now 58-years-old. That’s right, Uncle Jesse is pushing 60-years-old.
And believe it or not, Stamos just welcomed his first child into the world back in 2018, when he was 54-years-old. That’s fairly old for a first time father, but according to Stamos, it was the perfect time for him.
During a recent interview with TODAY, Stamos talked about how he wouldn’t have been ready to have a kid when he was younger.
I’m very grateful to the gods or to the universe or whatever that I’m an older father. I couldn’t have handled it earlier. I’ve wanted kids my whole life. I figured, ‘I can’t wait to be a father, I’ve been a TV father,’ but it’s a whole different ballgame. It’s the greatest blessing of my life. I couldn’t imagine my life without him, but it is challenging to do it right.
Stamos is married to model/actress Caitlin McHugh, who is 22 years younger than him. They got engaged back in October of 2017 after a year of dating, and then welcomed their first son together, Billy, in April of 2018.
And while Stamos acknowledged that he and Caitlin are in a better position than most, because they have people who can step in and watch Billy when needed, he realizes the amount of work involved.
It just takes so much to be a good parent. It’s about sacrifice, it’s an enormous amount of love, an enormous amount of patience, common sense, teaching them values and what’s right and wrong… and everything’s expensive. I am so grateful that I’m settled, and I’m cool, and I’m sober, and I’m happy with myself.
By the way, Stamos hinted that he and Caitlin might have another child, so there’s a chance Stamos could be a father of two just in time for his 60th birthday. No retirement for Stamos!
