If you’ve followed celebrity gossip news the past few years, then you know just how messy Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s divorce was. They first started dating in 2012, and then got married one year later in 2013.
They share two kids together, an 8-year-old daughter named River and a 6-year-old son named Remington. And during their marriage, Blackstock and his father worked as Clarkson’s management team. This was their first mistake. Never mix business with pleasure.
In 2020, Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock, citing the popular irreconcilable differences reasoning. The divorce was finalized a year later, but during that year, things got messy. At one point, Blackstock’s father’s management company sued Clarkson. They claimed the singer owed them $1.4 million in unpaid commissions.
This led to Clarkson countersuing. She accused the company of violating the California Labor Code by “procuring, offering, promising, or attempting to procure employment or engagements without being properly licensed.”
Eventually, it was all worked out in court, but after all the drama, you can imagine there was some bad blood between them. Thankfully, it looks like they’re finally working things out for the kids.
Clarkson recently told TODAY that she spent the summer in Montana with her kids and Blackstock.
The kids were with me and with their dad. It was nice because they usually have to travel a lot because of our separation. So we were both in Montana. It felt kind of the first time — I think my kids felt — a little more centered as well. So it was nice.
Clarkson admitted it’s been a difficult past few years, so it was nice to kinda reset and relax for a month or two. She revealed she and the kids went four-wheeling and enjoyed lots of time in nature. She also talked about quickly her kids are growing up, “Remy is, god, he’s such a little man. I love him so much.”
