Kelly Ripa shares three kids with her longtime husband Mark Consuelos. They have a 21-year-old daughter named Lola, and two sons, 25-year-old Michael and 19-year-old Joaquin. So all their kids are adults now and presumably out of the house.
At 51-years-old, Kelly and Mark are entering the empty nest period of their life, but during the pandemic, Ripa had the scare of her life.
In her upcoming memoir, Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories, the legendary talk show host revealed she thought she was pregnant early on in the pandemic after not getting her period.
I will definitely include that time during the pandemic that I thought my husband got me pregnant. I started taking pregnancy tests daily.
She couldn’t think of any other reason why her period wasn’t coming until her husband gently reminded her about a little thing called menopause.
Mark sort of gingerly said, ‘Could there be another reason why you’re not getting your period?’ And [I said], ‘What other reason could there possibly be?’ He really had to walk on eggshells here. I was really grateful that I was not going to have to explain to my kids that they were about to meet their new sibling.
In addition to the pregnancy scare, Ripa also revealed her book will have some NSFW details about her sex life with her husband, including that one time she passed out while making love.
That’s why in that one chapter, I was like, ‘If you are related to us in any way, I urge you to skip over this,’ If for some reason my kids feel the need to read the entire book — which, don’t get me wrong, I don’t suspect that they will — but if they did, I don’t want them to read that chapter because it would sicken them.
Yikes. What in the world were they doing in the bedroom? I feel like I’ll have to buy the book now just to find out, or just wait for someone to spoil it on Twitter.
But hey, good for them. They obviously still have an active and healthy sex life, even after being married for over 25 years. How many couples can say that?
