Zoe Saldana has been in some of the highest grossing movies in box office history. She had a starring role in James Cameron’s Avatar flick, and then entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Guardians of the Galaxy, which transitioned to roles in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Safe to say, she’s a pretty big deal, and before she had kids, she partied like she was a big deal as well, even as she entered her mid-30s.

The 44-year-old actress recently talked to PEOPLE, and she claims that one of her secrets to looking young is having kids. I know a lot of people would disagree with this claim, but for Saldana, her kids helped slow her down when she needed it the most.

I think having children keeps me out of trouble a lot. I go to bed early. I eat better. I sleep longer sometimes. I’m back to sleeping. I was having a lot of problems with my sleep. Whereas right before I had them, I was very much of the policy of work hard, play hard. And I loved my life like that. But I feel like having children happened at the right time for me because in your mid-thirties to late thirties, early forties, that’s when you go to bed thinking that you’re one thing, and you wake up feeling like something else.

She explains that she started having kids in her mid-to-late thirties, which helped save her from partying too hard.

Saldana shares 7-year-old twin boys Cy Aridio and Bowie Ezio, and their 5-year-old brother Zen, with her husband Marco Perego.

Back in 2020, Zoe joked that her husband didn’t give her any girls.

The third one was supposed to be [a daughter] and then my husband just doesn’t give any girls. I would have been great as a mother of daughters, but the universe, in its irony, and how I became a mom of three boys in the post-#MeToo movement [means] I’m accepting the challenge.
