Hayden Panettiere has been in the acting business for a long time. Some of you may even remember seeing her in ‘Remember the Titans‘ back in 2000 when she was just 11-years-old. Or some of you may recognize her from the hit NBC series, Heroes, or the ABC drama, Nashville.

Unfortunately, the past few years have been extremely challenging for the 33-year-old star. She appeared on a recent episode of ‘Red Table Talk‘ with Jada Pinkett Smith.

And during the episode, she talked about the heartbreaking moment she relinquished custody of her daughter, Kaya, to her ex, Wladimir Klitschko. She admitted signing the custody papers was the most painful thing she’s ever had to do, and she hates how it all went down.

If [Klitschko] had come to me and said I think because of where you’re at right now and your struggles that you’re having it would be good for her to be over here with me for a while — which if I had probably had enough of a conversation I would’ve said okay that makes sense, I get it, I’ll come there to visit and stuff like that. Because of the way that it was done, it was very upsetting. I mean, it was the worst signing those papers, the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever, ever had to do in my life.

The papers were to give Klitschko full custody. Hayden believed she would go work on herself, and then when she got better, she’d have her time with her daughter back, but she claims that didn’t happen.

And even though she lives with such extreme heartbreak every single day, she does believe she made the right decision at the time.

The best thing for my daughter was to make sure she was OK, take care of myself and make sure I could be a good mom to her. And sometimes that means letting go. She has a beautiful life.

In 2020, Hayden was able to see her daughter to celebrate her sixth birthday. We’re not sure how often they see each other these days, but perhaps that will be revealed when the full ‘Red Table Talk’ episode premieres on Wednesday, September 28th.
