Amy Schumer is finding out just how difficult being a working mother is. While at the season five premiere of her sketch comedy show, Inside Amy Schumer, the comedian talked about how she hates leaving her 3-year-old son, Gene, behind while on tour.

The 41-year-old entertainer is currently in the middle of a tour, which is set to end just before Thanksgiving, and she’s counting down the days.

I just want to be with him as much as I can. I’m very grateful to be able to work and have time for myself also. But it’s brutal. It hurts. I mean, like, there’s no way. It’s a painful thing.

Schumer shares Gene with her husband Chris Fischer. And while obviously she has it easier than a lot of moms, there’s still no cure for missing your baby while at work.

She also talked about how great her husband is with Gene.

His dad is very present with him. And so I don’t worry about him being taken care of. I just, I just miss him. You just wanna physically be there. I really do think it’s harder for me than him.

And yes, if you’re wondering, motherhood has changed Schumer. She’s grown up a lot in the past three years, and now her nurturing instincts are even kicking in outside the home. She joked about how on the set of her show, she’s always running around, making sure people are staying hydrated and fed.

Her transformation is complete.
