During the most recent episode of Drew Barrymore’s daytime talk show, the 47-year-old mother and actress talked to Victoria Beckham.
During their discussion, Barrymore revealed that her daughter, Olive (10), and Beckham’s daughter Harper (11) are the best of friends. And one might think they met at some swanky birthday party for the kid of a celebrity, but turns out, they became friends the old-fashioned way… by meeting at a park!
Barrymore talked about she was in London with her daughters filming a movie. And during a day off, she took her daughters to a local park.
One day, my daughter went to a park, and you know, we didn’t know anybody there, and she made a friend. I was so excited that she made a friend … and it turned out to be your daughter, Harper.
What are the odds, right? Makes you wonder if this “park” was in some gated community or something. I can’t imagine Victoria Beckham just hanging out at some public park in the city.
Beckham told Barrymore that Harper has “always loved playing with your girls because they’re such adorable little girls.”
And that’s not surprising. Drew Barrymore is one of the most adorable humans on the planet, so it only makes sense for that to pass down to her children.
By the way, during the interview, Barrymore also talked about how well behaved Beckham’s kids are, “I have never in my life met children who are as well behaved, kind, generous, humorous,” she stated, and then asked Beckham what the trick is.
It’s the greatest compliment, because I love what I do professionally but for me being a good mom is the most important job for me. I always say to Harper, ‘It doesn’t matter who is the cleverest girl in school…what matters is who is the kindest and sweetest girl in the classroom.’
We really love that. Kindness goes a long way in life. It may not seem like that at times, but it does.
