Most of you know about Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s love story. They were previously engaged in the early 2000s, but ultimately decided to break things off before walking down the aisle.

From there, they went on to marry and start families with other people, only to find each other again in early 2021 after both of them went through very public divorces. Now, one year later, the two stars are married and building a home together.

During a recent Vogue cover story, the 53-year-old actress talked about being a stepmother to Affleck’s children. She explained how Ben’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, makes everything so easy.

[She’s] an amazing coparent, and they work really well together. The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care. They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far.

So what does she want out of this new stepmother role? Well, she hopes to create an environment where Ben’s kids feel comfortable coming to her, perhaps for a different perspective than their father’s.

What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him, someone who really loves and cares about them but can have a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m so emotionally tied up.

Sounds like a solid plan to me. Of course, as she mentioned above, you have to be extra cautious dealing with teens because their emotions are so high. You could easily say the wrong thing and get on their bad side real quick.

But it seems like Lopez has the right approach. She’s not trying to be their mother, she’s just there for them if they need a bonus mom.

Hopefully the good vibes and the great coparenting continue!
