Four years ago, John Stamos welcomed his first child into the world. The ‘Full House‘ actor waited until his mid-50s to have a kid because he didn’t feel like he was ready before then.
But even in his 50s, Stamos still didn’t know all there was to know about fatherhood. In a new Instagram video, Stamos shared an old clip of his son, Billy, laughing at him. It’s a truly adorable clip, but the caption is what makes it so special.
Stamos wrote that the first few months after his son’s birth, he didn’t feel as connected to him as he thought he would. Then, his dear friend Bob Saget gave him some advice.
For the first few months I didn’t feel as connected with my son as I thought I would. Bob Saget said just wait until the first time he laughs at you. If this doesn’t cheer you up on a Wednesday, nothing will.
Saget was a father to three children, and by all accounts, he was a great father… not only to his own children, but to anyone who was in need of help. He had so many friends in the industry and was always there for people. Never afraid to tell someone how much he loved them.
We need more of that in the world. We also need more laughter, so we’re just going to watch Stamos’ video again because it’s just too cute.
