Last week was a frightening week for Vanderpump Rules star Lala Kent and her 18-month-old daughter, Ocean.
During the November 9 episode of her podcast, Give Them Lala, the 32-year-old reality star talked about how she had to rush Ocean to the emergency room because she appeared to be gasping for air.
I put her down on Wednesday night, I hear her upset. And people always ask, ‘Did you sleep train Ocean?’ And I did, because I feel like you know their cry. This cry was, ‘Something’s wrong.’ She was gasping for air like she cannot breathe.
After watching her for a couple minutes, Lala decided to take her to the emergency room. She drove to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, and she said the emergency room was packed. But despite that, doctors rushed her to a room immediately, so she believed the situation was serious.
Eventually, Ocean was diagnosed with croup, which is basically an infection of the upper airway, which can obstruct breathing and cause a pretty brutal sounding cough.
Thankfully, it’s easily treated with steroids to bring the swelling in the airways down, and that’s exactly what doctors did.
Even talking about it now, it was like, ‘Oh my God this is so scary,. Like I asked the nurse, ‘Is my baby going to wake up tomorrow? Because I’m freaking out.’
Lala talked about how she was “in hysterics” due to being a new mom, but after talking with the nurses and the doctors, she eventually calmed down a bit.
Ocean is now back at home and feeling much better.
