Elton John Talks About The Sons He Shares With His Husband David Furnish

At 75-years-old, Elton John is the father to a 9-year-old boy named Elijah and an 11-year-old boy named Zachary.

He shares both kids with his husband, David Furnish. The Grammy Award winner doesn’t often speak about his family, but during a recent chat with PEOPLE, he was asked if his kids were already gifted musically.

They are still so young, so not entirely sure. But of course, whatever their dreams and ambitions are, my husband David and I will fully support them.

Elton and David welcomed both boys via surrogacy. Last weekend, he brought his kids and husband on stage at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, to celebrate the final show on his North American Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

I am of course looking forward to spending more time with my sons. I am also looking forward to being able to dedicate more of my time to other projects, like the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

David and Elton tied the knot back in 2014 on the 9th anniversary of their civil partnership, and by all accounts, they are still very much in love.

Back in March, Elton celebrated his 75th birthday with his family, and he wrote a sweet letter to his boys…

You’re 11 and 9 years old now, and when I was your age, I could never have dreamed where life would take me. Looking back over the past 75 years, there is so much I am proud of, so much I have learned. When I was young, I was told to fit in, to do what others expected even when it didn’t feel right. Now I realize I can only be me. Being true to myself is what gave me my voice, and helped me face my greatest fears.

Being his authentic self obviously worked out quite well for Elton. Not that money is everything, but he currently has a net worth over $500 million.
