What does a concerned parent do when their 18-year-old son informs them they want to go skydiving? Well, if that parent is Kate Hudson, she calls good friend and Hollywood mega star, Tom Cruise.

During a recent Actors on Actors conversation with ‘Top Gun: Maverick‘ star Glen Powell, Hudson revealed her 18-year-old son Ryder expressed interest in skydiving.

This obviously freaked Hudson out, “I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was like, ‘I need to call Tom.”

So she called up her longtime friend Tom Cruise, and of course, he was jazzed about the idea and somehow even managed to convince Hudson she needed to skydive as well.

I was like, please, who do I call? I don’t want him to go to some weird place. And Tom was so excited. By the end of this phone call, I wanted to solo dive. Somehow, he had convinced me how incredible skydiving was.

Tom knows a thing or 100 about jumping out of airplanes. He reportedly jumped out of a plane over 100 times to get a skydiving scene just right for Mission Impossible: Fallout.

Imagine being able to call Tom Cruise to talk about your son’s first skydiving session. That’s a pretty great resource to have.
