Katharine McPhee Says She And 73-Year-Old Husband Would Love To Have Another Baby

For those who don’t know, 38-year-old ‘American Idol‘ star Katharine McPhee is married to 73-year-old music producer, David Foster.

The married couple welcomed their first baby together back in 2021. And now that their little guy (Rennie) is nearing two years old, McPhee is thinking about having another one.

She was on the Jennifer Hudson Show this week, and she told the crowd, “I would love to have another baby, but we’ll see. We’re not in any crazy rush, but I hope so.”

It’s interesting she says they’re not in any rush, considering Foster is 73. Assuming he lives until he’s 90, he only has 17 years left, which means if you wait much longer, this potential new baby won’t have a father during most of their teen years.

But hey, it’s their life. It’s not for anyone else to judge. McPhee revealed she loves being a mom. Hudson asked McPhee if her son can “sing like his mommy.”

So far I would say his singing isn’t his strong suit. I mean, he’s under two, so I’m not trying to be too critical here.

And while this is McPhee’s first child, Foster is no stranger to #dadlife. He has six adult daughters, ranging from age 52 to 36.

The producer recently told PEOPLE that he loves all his daughters, but having a son is a little different.

I had all daughters until my son and I love all my daughters immeasurably, but having a son is a little bit different.
