The world is waiting to watch Rihanna light up the stage at the 2023 Super Bowl this Sunday, Feb. 12. It’s probably one of the most anticipated halftime shows in several years.
But it almost didn’t happen. As you all know, the 34-year-old artist gave birth to her first baby boy back in May of 2022. She was in full mom-mode when she was asked to perform at the Super Bowl just three months later.
At first, she thought “no way” but then she thought about it more and was like, “Why not?”
I feel like it was now or never, really. There’s this weird sh*t that happens when you become a mom, that you just unleash or unlock other parts of your superpower, you feel like you can take on or you could do anything.
That doesn’t mean it’s easy though. During a recent press conference to discuss the upcoming performance, Rihanna admitted it’s a struggle to find a work-life balance after becoming a parent.
The balance is almost impossible because no matter how you look at it, work is always something that’s going to rob you of time with your child. That’s the currency now. The magnitude of how much it weighs when you make decisions on what you’re going to say yes to, it has to be worth it.
I think we can all agree that the Super Bowl halftime show is definitely worth it. According to insiders, Rihanna’s little boy will watch his momma’s performance from the family’s box at the game.
