2022 was a difficult year for both Ed Sheeran, and his wife, Cherry Seaborn. The ‘Shape of You’ singer was already dealing with the deaths of a few close friends earlier in the year.

He had been having a rough time, but then Seaborn got pregnant and there was a brief moment of happiness. Unfortunately, the good vibes didn’t last long because at six months pregnant, doctors discovered Seaborn had a tumor.

They were told the tumor was inoperable until after Seaborn delivered, which left them with the difficult decision to possibly welcome their little girl early.

Ultimately, Seaborn carried to term and had a ‘successful surgery’ after welcoming Jupiter — who joined the couple’s 2-year-old daughter Lyra — hours before Sheeran, 32, would take the stage at London’s Wembley Stadium.

At the time, Sheeran felt so helpless. “There’s nothing you can do about it,” he admitted. In March of 2022, he started to feel like he didn’t want to be alive anymore.

And I have had that throughout my life.… You’re under the waves drowning. You’re just sort of in this thing. And you can’t get out of it.

He remembered feeling really embarrassed and selfish for having these feelings while his wife was pregnant with their child.

Of course, he shouldn’t feel embarrassed at all. You can’t just switch off your feelings. Sure, you need to be strong for your kids, but you also need to take care of yourself as well.

Sounds like Sheeran has figured out how to do both.
