Lea Michele is the star of the Broadway hit, Funny Girl, but she won’t be there for the next performance due to a family health emergency.
The 36-year-old former ‘Glee‘ star went on her Instagram Story this week to explain the reasoning behind her absence.
I am so sorry but unfortunately I will be out of @FunnyGirlBwy today. We are at the hospital with our son dealing with a scary health issue that I need to be here for.
She shared a photo of her hand on her 2-year-old son Ever Leo’s arm. She ended her message with, “I’m so sorry. Please send us some love and strength.”

The Broadway production confirmed that Lea would be absent from all performances on March 22.
It’s not clear what health issue her son is suffering from, but we certainly hope he makes a full recovery. It’s so incredibly difficult to watch your child suffer, so we’re sending all our thoughts and prayers to Lea.
For those who don’t know, Lea shares Ever with her husband Zandy Reich. She gave birth to Ever in August of 2020. When she returned to work for the first time after giving birth, she was understandably a little nervous to leave him.
She told PEOPLE the following:
I was nervous to go back to work and leave him. I spoke to so many incredible women in the Broadway community who are also moms. And all of these women just said it’s important for him to see you working, and for him to see you doing what you love. So I just have to keep reminding myself of that.
Great advice!
