Katherine Heigl Says She Did Not Know How To Raise Kids In Los Angeles

44-year-old actress Katherine Heigl got her lucky break in Hollywood, but that doesn’t mean she has to stay there!

During a recent interview with E! News, the ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘ actress revealed that she and her husband Josh Kelley decided to move to Utah because they didn’t know how to navigate parenthood in Los Angeles.

I didn’t know how to raise them in L.A., so I felt like I could do it here. I could be more on top of things that scare me and I could be more on top of the kinds of friends they have and places they’re going, the kind of activities they’re involved in — and what the hell they’re doing on their phones!

There are certainly less places to go in Utah than in Los Angeles, so we understand her thinking on that. But how does being in Utah make it easier to monitor their phones? That’s a little confusing.

But the move to Utah wasn’t only for her kids. Heigl admits it’s been nice being able to decompress and step away from the 24/7 nature of Hollywood.

I could kind of decompress and let that hustle part of me go — a little bit. I don’t know that in any career you can ever completely stop hustling, but being able to separate it a little bit and choose those times of hustle versus just being in it constantly was really important to me.

She and Kelley have three kids together: 14-year-old Naleigh, 10-year-old Adalide, and 6-year-old Joshua.

Sounds like they have a good thing going on in Utah! Heigl has been through a lot in Hollywood, so it’s nice to see she’s comfortable and happy now.
