Jennifer Garner is one of the sweetest people in Hollywood, so when insiders say she’s also one of the best mothers, we believe them.
During a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 50-year-old actress talked a little about parenting. For those who don’t know, she shares 17-year-old Violet, 14-year-old Seraphina and 11-year-old Samuel with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck.
And during her chat with PEOPLE, Garner admitted she knows how difficult it is to be a teen right now.
I just have a huge heart for teenagers. I love them. I love what they’re going through. I see how hard it is to be a teen right now.
They are going through a lot. It’s probably never been harder to be a teen. There are just so many things to worry about, from violence at schools, to online bullying and unrealistic beauty standards… it’s a lot to manage.
Garner also admitted that for some reason, her kids don’t mind watching their father act in things, but they don’t share the same enthusiasm for her projects.
My kids don’t love to watch me in things. They do to be supportive, but I think it’s a little weird to watch your mom kiss someone or cry. It’s different. They don’t mind watching their dad. They don’t want to see me sad, and they don’t want to see me in a romance. They don’t love seeing me play someone else’s mom, honestly. I don’t know if they’ll watch this.
The “this” she is referring to is her latest project, a TV series titled The Last Thing He Told Me, which is based on the novel of the same name by Laura Grace.
The Last Thing He Told Me is about a woman who must forge a relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter (Rice, 22) to find her husband who has mysteriously disappeared, per a description from Apple TV+.
