Two months ago, Al Roker’s daughter Courtney Roker and her husband Wesley Laga, announced they were expecting their first baby together.
This was obviously exciting news for America’s favorite weatherman, but he made it very clear to Courtney that he didn’t want to know if the baby was going to be a boy or girl. He wanted to be surprised.
Unfortunately, the surprise was ruined. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Roker said, “Courtney is expecting our first granddaughter,” and then he corrected himself, admitting he should have said “grandchild.”

He then laughed and talked about how his slip of the tongue was similar to how the surprise was ruined for him.
She [texted] me a sonogram picture and I said, ‘That baby looks just like you,’ and she said, ‘Doesn’t she?’ And then you see the bubbles… [She goes] ‘I’m so sorry!’ and I went, ‘You had one [job]!’ I wanted to be surprised.
It’s too bad we haven’t invented those Men in Black mind erasers yet.
Roker also revealed Courtney is due in June, so he’s just a month away from officially being a grandparent, and he could not be more excited. He’s even picked out what he wants to be called. “Pop-pop,” he shared.
Roker shares Courtney, 36, with ex-wife Alice Bell, whom he was married to from 1984 to 1994. In addition to Courtney, Roker is also dad to son Nick Roker, 20, and daughter Leila Roker, 24, both of whom he shares with wife Deborah Roberts.
