New mom Keke Palmer is standing up for moms all over the world after what she describes as a very uncomfortable situation at an airport in Houston.
Keke, who welcomed her first son Leodis in February, went on her Twitter account on Monday to talk about an experience she had that “ruined her mood” at the airport.
Breast milk discrimination at the Houston airport ruined my mood. I should’ve popped my tit out right then because the discretion and comfort of pumping is thwarted with threats to throw out over 16oz [of] my babies [sic] food?!?!!! Why is that not a crime?? I’M A MOTHER for crying out loud.
The TSA states that “breast milk in quantities greater than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters are allowed in carry-on baggage,” but anything in “excess” must be screened separately, whatever that means.
Moms who have faced similar struggles replied to Keke and shared their horror stories. A few users noted problems at an airport in Georgia and Arkansas.
Another user tweeted, “Pumping is not an easy task. 16oz is a lot ! That is not right at all!!!!”
We can imagine her frustration. A lot of hard work went into those 16 ounces! You better not just throw it away!
Aside from this frustrating airport experience, motherhood seems to be going well for Keke. A couple months back, she proclaimed that being a mother is the best gig of her life.
I have juggled quite a few careers but this is my greatest gig of all. … If you thought I was a bad mama jamma before, you can’t imagine the greater purpose my son has given my life!
