We spend a lot of time talking about the mothers and fathers of the world, but what about the grandmothers and grandfathers?
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson talked with Entertainment Tonight recently, and they were asked about what grandparent life is like.
“All you gotta do is love those little brats,” Hanks said, somewhat jokingly before adding, “They’re not little brats, they’re extraordinary young women.”
For those who don’t know, Tom and Rita share two kids together: 32-year-old Chet and 27-year-old Truman. Hanks also has two other kids from a previous marriage.
Together, Hank and Wilson are grandparents to three kids in total, so they have their hands full. During the discussion with Entertainment Tonight, Wilson revealed the key is spending quality time with them.
You got to get on the trampoline with them, you got to get in the pool with them, you got to get on the tennis court, you got to do all the sports. You just got to hang out.
Hanks agreed, but added another way to make sure you’re on their good side is to make “their macaroni and cheese just perfectly.”
Ah, yes. That certainly doesn’t hurt. Heck, I think we’d all appreciate it if someone made us the perfect bowl of mac & cheese!
