No one saw this coming! Superstar couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen shocked us all this week by announcing the birth of their fourth child, Wren Alexander.

They welcomed this fourth child via surrogate, and according to Teigen’s Instagram post, he entered the world on June 19, just before midnight.

She wrote, “For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children. As a little girl, 2 glow worms and 2 cabbage patch dolls were perpetually in my arms, helping me stir in my pretend kitchen.”

It has certainly been a journey for Teigen and Legend. They have experienced it all, including pregnancy loss, IVF, surrogacy and placenta previa. And much to Teigen’s credit, she’s been very open throughout it all, which has probably provided comfort to other women dealing with similar issues.

Teigen also thanked their surrogate, describing her as the most incredible and compassionate surrogate they could ever imagine.

I knew she was a perfect match for us the moment we spoke to her. All our wishes and dreams aligned. I wanted to be her friend, I wanted our children to play, I wanted dinner together, I wanted to lay my head on her belly and be able to feel the hiccups and kicks. I wanted them to be in our lives for as long as time would allow.

Congrats to Teigen and Legend for finally getting their perfect family!
