At one point in time, Zayn Malik was everywhere, thanks in large part to One Direction. He was a founding member of the boy band, and for a couple years, they were the hottest ticket in town.
But Zayn left the group in 2015, which ultimately led to their demise. He started his own solo career, and things were going well, but then he began to suffer from extreme anxiety. The past few years, he’s been trying his best to stay out of the spotlight.
However, it looks like he might be planning a return because he just appeared on the super popular ‘Call Her Daddy‘ podcast.
During the conversation, the 30-year-old singer talked a little about fatherhood. For those who don’t know, he shares a soon-to-be three-year-old daughter named Khai with his ex-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid.
Since I’ve had my daughter, the main thing in my mind is trying to be a good example to her. That’s why I’m even doing this interview, you know? I used to get a lot of anxiety around having a conversation like this. And I want her to be able to look at me and be like, ‘My dad’s doing this.’
Kids have a funny way of either bringing the worst or best out of you, and thankfully it looks like it’s bringing out the best in Zayn.
Elsewhere in the podcast, he talked about how his bad boy image has faded since becoming a father.
I keep being told I’m telling dad jokes. And I’m leaning into it. I’m just like, ‘It’s OK. It’s cool.’
And while he and Hadid have had some struggles in their co-parenting relationship, they came together for Khai’s second birthday back in September of last year.
Hadid even gave Zayn credit for throwing the “best party.”
