What is one supposed to do when they want to announce their baby’s gender, but it’s too hot and dry for fireworks?
They turn to drones!
41-year-old tennis legend Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian announced the sex of their second baby on Monday with a video posted to YouTube.
Serena arrived at her ‘baby shower-slash-gender reveal’ party making it known that she was ‘team pink,’ as she put it, wearing a pink and white skirt and top that showed off her baby bump. ‘I’m a little nervous because I don’t have any contingency plan if it turns out to be a boy.’
The party was huge. They had a DJ, a dance floor, a dunk tank… and a yellow cake? Yeah, a yellow cake. You see, Ohanian wanted to surprise Serena by getting a yellow cake, instead of the standard blue or pink, which would signal a boy or a girl.
She will cut into this cake and probably be disappointed and hopefully appreciate my troll. But, we’ll see. I don’t know if she’s gonna be a professional about it. She might see this cake come out, roll her eyes, and say, ‘This guy had one job and he gave me a goddamn cake gender reveal.’ But we’ll see. there’s a reveal after the reveal.
After Serena cut the cake and saw the yellow, she moved to smoosh it right into her husband’s face. After that debacle, the DJ told everyone to look to the heavens for the reveal.
Seconds later, drones lit up the sky and spelled out “Girl!”
As the guests cheered and applauded, Serena, Alexis, and Olympia shouted their joy.
Serena is probably beyond excited, mostly because she has a second chance at creating a tennis star, since it doesn’t really seem like her first-born, Olympia, is all that into sports.
