Joe Jonas shocked the world (and his estranged wife Sophie Turner) when he filed for divorce last month while she was overseas wrapping up filming on a miniseries.
In the last few weeks, there has been a battle over where their two daughters will live. Turner claims Joe previously agreed to raise them in London, but now he’s refusing to give up their passports and wants them to stay in the U.S.
And now we are hearing the former couple is set to begin a four-day mediation on Wednesday, October 4. The hope is that they can solve the issues surrounding custody and develop some sort of co-parenting plan.
Although Judge Katherine Polk Failla set a Jan. 2 trial date, the mediation aims to solve many of Turner, 27, and Jonas’ custody issues. In court, Turner’s lawyer Stephen Cullen claimed that Jonas, 34, is asking for joint custody, saying that what ‘he was looking for is a 50-50.’
As of right now, both Turner and Joe are spending equal amounts of time with their two daughters, and the goal behind this mediation is to keep it that way until things become official in January.
We’re sure there will be lots of tears during the next four days, but hopefully they can come to an agreement for their children. That’s the most important thing in this scenario. You have to put the children first.
