Some of you may not even realize that 41-year-old actress Anne Hathaway is a mother to two children: 7-year-old Jonathan and 3-year-old Jack.
And that’s by design. She wants to keep them out of the spotlight.
Anne recently talked to PORTER and explained why she likes to keep her career and personal life separated as best she can.
It’s something I feel is not just essential for my health – I’m on a team, it’s my family, and it’s not just about me. My family has needs, and one of the needs of children is that they need to be able to define their own lives. It doesn’t even occur to me to link the two up, except through gratitude that they serve each other so beautifully. But they serve each other through me, and not through a space that’s outside of myself.
That’s a really healthy way of viewing things. Anne has faced some criticism in the past due to rumors she was “difficult” to work with, but we all know in Hollywood “difficult woman” is synonymous with “powerful woman.”
Back in September, Anne talked to PEOPLE and explained how she appreciates her body more now after giving birth.
People don’t talk about this and it really made me feel better when I found out about it. It takes three years for your body to fully recover from a pregnancy. I didn’t snap back. I want to very, very clear about that. With my second, it took every minute of those three years. And it’s cool. Let your body be a body.
Speak on it!
